NOTES
This team reminds me of the 1973 Mets which should not be surprising since Calvi loves the Mets. Anytime you roll out a rotation of Koosman, Holtzman, Cleveland and Moose you know you have a chance to win any game, especially since all of them have MLB World Series experience. When you add an outstanding bullpen, all you need is a lead after 7 innings and its game over.
Tony Perez and Bobby Murcer lead the hitting attack but the rest of the lineup does not strike fear in the hearts of Liberty managers. Despite this weakness, you have to be impressed with the defensive range of the LIX. The big X factor is what to do with Earl Williams. The man can hit but he has an iron glove.
Calvi has built a team that could ride its way to the playoffs on the back of the impressive pitching staff. The numbers say LIX finishes 4th in the tough Eastern division but Calvi has the 73 Mets' blueprint for success.
