King of the Hill Format 

9 Chapters, 20 Games each Chapter, rotating schedule, etc. 

At the end of the regular season, 6 teams qualified for the playoffs:

ROUND 1:  TWINS ELIMINATE ASTROS IN 1 GAME

Notes: Twins score 3 runs in the 6th for 4-2 win.  Twins Earl Battey went 2 for 4 with a RBI 3B.  Twins advance to Round 2.  Houston finishes the season at 14-10. 



ROUND  2 : DODGERS ELIMINATE TWINS IN 2 GAMES

Notes:  Koufax (LAD) and Mudcat Grant (MIN) start the game but Koufax gives up 5 runs over 6.1 innings while Dodgers tag Grant for 7 runs in 5.2 innings.  Both teams spray 34 hits around Dodger stadium until Lou Johnson drives in the winning run with a triple in the bottom of the 11th for a 10-9 Dodger win.

Notes:  
Lou Johnson hits a 2 run 2B in the 1st and Fairly hits a solo shot in the 3rd.  Drysdale throws a 2 hit complete game shutout to demonstrate his HOF credentials and send the Dodgers on to the next round of the playoffs.  Twins finish 13-12 in the 66 project. 



ROUND 3: DODGERS ELIMINATE ORIOLES IN 5 GAMES

Notes:  Luis Aparicio hits 2B and 3B and scores winning run.  Both bullpens shut down opposing offenses and Koufax takes hard luck loss.  Orioles lead round 3 2 games to 1.

Notes:  Orioles knock out Drysdale and take a 3-1 lead after 7 innings.  Dodgers plate 3 runs off the Baltimore pen and win 4-3.  Ron Fairly hits a walkoff SF for the win.  Round 3 tied 2-2. 

G5:  Dodgers 3  Orioles 2 (11 innings)

Notes:  D. Stuart hits a 2 run shot in the top of the 11th and Maury Wills adds a RBI single to give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the 11th.   Frank Robinson hits a 2 run single in the bottom of the 11th but Brooks Robinson groundouts and the Dodgers win round 3 3 games to 2.  Orioles, the 1966 MLB World Series champs are eliminated and finish the 66 project with a 19-13 record.  This game has to go down as the best pitched game in the 66 project. 




ROUND 4:  DODGERS ELIMINATE ATHLETICS IN 7 GAME THRILLER

G1:  Dodgers 4  Athletics 1

Notes:  Sutton continues to shine allows only 1 run in posting a complete game win.  Maury Wills collects 3 hits including a 2b and a RBI to hand the surprising A's the loss.  LA takes a 1-0 lead in the series.

Notes:  Dick Green hits a walkoff single to hand Catfish the win.  Koufax takes another hard luck loss in the last year of his HOF career.  Series tied at 1-1.

Notes:  Maury Wills RBI single in the 5th gives Drysdale the only run he needs for the 1-0 win. Nash fans 12 but takes a hard luck loss as pitching continues to dominate the series.  LA takes a 2-1 lead in the series.

Dodgers win the series 4 games to 3.  The series included 5 1 run games and featured outstanding pitching.  A's finish the project at 20-11 and end their Cinderella season.

Notes: 
 Willie Stargell's productive day at Forbes Field helped PIT finish on top. On the mound, Bob Veale picked up the win with help from Willie Stargell's player of the game performance (1 for 3 with 1 walk, 1 home run and 2 RBI). With the victory, PIT is now 22-9.  Pirates lead series 1-0.

Notes: 
Pirates use 4 run 7th to seal the deal.  Manny Mota had a 2B and 2 RBI.  Lou Johnson had 3 hits and a HR to lead the Dodgers.  Pirates take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Notes:
Ed Bailey posts 3 hits including a 2B and HR to send Koufax to the showers in his last career start.   PIrates hold Dodgers to 5 hits in the game and take a 3-0 lead in the series.

Notes: 
Stargell has 3 hits and HR while Clemente posts a 2B and HR for the PIrates sweep of the Dodgers.  Dodgers finish the season with a 25-19 record while the Pirates win the ring with a 25-9 record.
