NORTHEAST ALLSTARS WIN THE 1967 INSIDE PITCH JACKIE ROBINSON MEMORIAL ALL STAR TOURNEY

At the end of each Gowdy IP Memorial season, I like to combine elements of the MLB All Star game, the World Baseball Classic and a way to honor the Negro leagues.  The resulting project is called the Jackie Robinson Memorial All Star Tournament. Four teams play a round robin tournament to select a champion.

Four teams are created for each purpose. To honor the Negro leagues, I create a team called the Black Diamonds.  Every player on this squad is a black ball player for the given season.  The International All Stars are foreign born players while the Northeast and Southwest All Stars comprise players from their respective regions.  Every player from every team are the top players based on ERA+and OPS+with a few players making a squad based on their Gowdy seasonal performance.
