The 1968 Curt Gowdy Memorial Project honors the late great broadcaster.  Gowdy knew his baseball but also was able to convey the triumphs and struggles of the major league ballplayer.  He knew where they were born and the personal journey the ballplayer made to arrive at the big leagues.

SCHEDULING 

REGULAR SEASON 

I  use a straight KOH schedule.  I start by listing the teams based on total wins in the 1968  season.  Second,  the NL and AL champs will play the first 2 games of the season.   The regular season schedule includes 180 games broken up in  9 chapters of 20 games each.

Top 6 teams qualify for the playoffs.  Teams are ranked 1 through 6.

The Indians are the surprise team of the project and are 3 back. 
Hank Aaron keeps the Braves in the 4th spot. 
Jim Wynn aka the Toy Cannon and Don Wilson lead the 5th ranked Astros. 
The Orioles hold down the last playoff slot due to the playoff formula. 
Atlanta SP Ron Reed leads the Cy Young race. 
Dodger CF Willie Davis holds a slight lead in the MVP race.
