Round 1 Results

#1.  Washington Senators 5-1

Washington took advantage of its initial #18 rating and went on a 5 game winning streak against weak opponents to take the round 1 lead.  OF Don Lock not only tied for the early lead in HRs with 2 but also used his 4 CF rating to take away several hits from opposing hitters.
CL Marshall Bridges picked up 3 crucial saves in high leverage situations.

#2.  San Francisco Giants 4-1

Giants lived up to their #2 ranking.  Willie Mays scored 6 runs while Willie McCovey took the early league lead in doubles and triples.   Juan Marichal took the early lead in the Cy Young race, leading the league in innings pitched and strikeouts.

#3.  Milwaukee Braves  4-1

The Braves slugged their way to the #3 slot.  Joe Torre leads the league in hits, average and on base percentage while Hank Aaron shares the league lead in homers and RBIs with several players.  Tony Cloninger looks like he will be the primary beneficiary of this run producing machine.

#4.  LA Dodgers  2-1

The Dodgers picked up wins against the Twins and the White Sox before the Giants shut them out 6-0.  Maury Wills leads the league with 3 SBs.

#5.  Detroit Tigers  2-1

Al Kaline , Mr. Tiger, lived up to his accolades by leading the league with a 1.111 slugging percentage and a 1.650 OPS.

#6.  Minnesota Twins  1-1

A 14 inning loss to the Dodgers could be a preview of some future playoff  action.  The Twins are confident their hitters will warm up in round 2.

Love this King of the Hill format.  Everyone has an opportunity to win and has to deal with the risk of losing.

On to round 2...
